So Let’s Move On!
FASHION SEWING PROJECT
You should by now have pattern pieces that have all the necessary adjustments made to them (if there were any) and utilized the use of a toile / muslin to eek out any other minor adjustments.
Its time to get that perfect fit!
Let’s create and finish a great fitting, great trouser sewing project, ready to add to your now expanding wardrobe.
How to Sew The Trousers / Pants -
NB – Click on each photo to enlarge and take a better look.
1 – Introduction – Your pattern pieces should be ready and cut with all the fabric markings done.
2 – Sewing the Back Section – Start to machine sew from the waistline of the pant to the crotch area. Remember to press!
3 – Sewing the Front Section – Either baste stitch by hand or use the largest stitch length on your sewing machine (Do not back stitch). Please refer to your pattern symbols / marking to ensure this part is completed correctly.
4 – Sewing in the Zip / Zipper – Baste the zip / zipper into position, ready to be sewn into place. Make sure only the teeth are seen. Why not watch the video’s below to see this technique in action!
5 – This is what your pants zip / zipper fastening should look like, (apologies for the blur).
6 – Sew the Inner Legs – From the crotch area, sew down to the hem of the pant. Press the seam open. Sew the outer legs starting from the waistline, sewing down to the hem of the pant. Press the seam open.
7 – Now for the Waistband – See a fast and easy way to Sew An Easy Waistband.
8 – Hook and Bar – It’s time to attach those notions. Attaching hooks and bars to your sewing project in principle is the same as sewing hooks and eyes.
