How I made the blouse -

– The introduction of course.

- Pin Collars – Right side to right side, baste and machine sew a 1cm (3/8inch) seam.

- Trim – Grade and clip the seam.

– Press – Using your thumb and index finger, finger press the seam open. Turn the collar to the right side and press the collar with a steam iron.  The collar is now complete.  Place to one side until needed.

Moving onto the Sleeve -

- Gathering Stitch – I’ve created a video to show how this is done – click ‘How to Gather Stitch’ to see a demonstration.  You need to stitch two rows of stitching to the head and end of the sleeve.

- Sleeve Seam – Sew a 1.5cm (5/8inch) seam allowance and press seam open. I would fit the sleeve on a dress form or on yourself, just to check that you are happy with the shape.

- Sleeve Band – Press the un-notched edge 1cm (3/8inch).

- Band and Sleeve – Insert the band into the sleeve with right sides together, matching up all pattern markings and the seam.  Adjust gathers if necessary then pin, baste and machine sew 1.5cm (5/8inch). Remove the rows of gathers and trim seam allowance.

- Sew Sleeve to Band – When you are sewing the gathers, adjust them as you sew to keep them even and as flat as possible.

- Slipstitch – Slipstitch the pressed edge over the seam, this part of the sleeve is complete. Click ‘How to Slipstitch‘ to see a video demonstration.
