The Simplicity 2117 Easy Skirt Sewing Pattern

I shall be making view A during this sew-along, described as a straight fitted skirt, two hip style pockets, pleated front, waistband and decorative button feature.

NB – If you want to make view B, you can still take part in this sew-along, as the only real difference between the two skirts is there length and decorative feature.

  1. So, I bought some beautiful raw silk, but then I looked and that isn’t on the list of fabrics to use. What do you think? I’m an experienced sewer, I usually just don’t make skirts. Do you think it would work?

    • Colleen G Lea says:

      Hi Janel,
There’s no reason why silk won’t work as long as its the right weight. Should turn out beautiful.

  2. Hi Colleen
I have everything ready, just wondering if the pattern includes seam allowance? I thought it didn’t as it’s a multi-size pattern, what do you think?
    Thanks

  3. Candy De Leon says:

    Hi,

All ready, traced the pattern, pre-wash the fabric and iron it. Will be cutting tomorrow not sure of the length I want. After the layouts and the cutting it should be done in a couple of hours. Easy pattern !!! #2137

Dying to see Everyone’s pic and fabric selections!!!

    Have Fun!!!!

  4. Hi,
I just ordered the pattern and I’m excited. One question- how much fabric do we need? thanks!

  5. Kirsten bertram says:

    Hi

    I am a 22 i size can I stille make this skirt?

    • Colleen G Lea says:

      Hi Kirsten,
The sewing pattern itself goes up to size 18 but it can certainly be adjusted to fit.
      Any problems let me know.

    • Colleen G Lea says:

      Hi Deborah
It all depends on the width of your fabric and the size in which the skirt will be made.
All measurements can be found on the back of the pattern.

      • I guess i hope the pattern gets here in time for me to still order fabric and wait for that to get shipped too. Is anyone here planning on making a 4/6 and can give me an idea? thanks!
