Hello fashion sewers and welcome to our Fashion Sewing Blog.
In today’s article, guide and FREE fashion sewing video tutorial, I’d like to demonstrate for you the technique of applying, and sewing facing to curved and rounded necklines.
This technique, (as with most I demonstrate), is an important one to learn, as it will develop your fashion sewing skill set and allow for you to tackle more and more advanced sewing projects.
I do hope you find the following quick tutorial of some use!
Sewing Facing to Curved Necklines
sewing
Facing, within fashion sewing is generally used in areas of a garment such as necklines, armholes, waistlines as well as garment openings.
Created by the fashion sewer, facing is usually made up of the same fashion fabric that you use during your sewing project.
However, if you were using heavier weight fabrics during your sewing project, we’d look to use an alternative, lighter weight facing to reduce bulk and weight.
Facing is used for finishing raw edges and to sustain shape and support to the outside area of a garment, and it does this from the inside.
In the following fashion sewing video tutorial, I’ll demonstrate how to sew facing onto a curved / round neckline.
