Make Room In Your Wardrobe Ladies!
You may remember some weeks back, I held an impromptu sew-along poll as part of my article – Fashion Trends For Spring / Summer 2012.
I asked for readers to look at some of the latest sewing patterns available today and cast their vote to choose which, out of the 10 sewing patterns available, they wanted to make as part of a sew-along.
As always, you didn’t let me down!
The votes came flooding in and each sewing pattern did receive a mass of votes.
Even so, a winner did prevail and I’m proud to announce that our next sew-along will feature, with 24% of the votes, the Simplicity 2884 Dress.
A fantastic choice! Just goes to show that Fashion Sewing Blog readers know style when they see it.
I do hope as many of you as you can will take part in my sew-along and make the whole experience as interactive as we can.
For those wanting to know more, I’ve compiled a checklist below to aid you in acquiring all the tools and equipment necessary to make this dress in a quick and timely manner.
Let’s have a closer look at the sewing pattern!
The Simplicity 2884 Dress
The Simplicity 2884 dress has a wonderful retro feel with halter neck design feature. The front of the dress has V neckline shaping with gathers to the bust area and a yoke to the bodice area. The Simplicity 2884 dress has a zip / zipper fastening within the side seam of the dress.
You have 2 design choices. During the sew-along, I shall be making style A.
Design A. The bodice of the halter neck, ties into a bow at the back whilst the skirt section is pleated into the yoke / midriff at the waistline to give fullness.
Design B. The bodice of the halter neck is fastened with two buttons at the back whilst the skirt section is gathered into the yoke / midriff which adds fullness from the waistline.
‘Please remember you can take part in my sew-along no matter which design you choose to complete’!
