Hello fashion sewers and welcome to our Fashion Sewing Blog.
In today’s article and FREE online fashion sewing tutorial, I’d like to demonstrate for you, the very easy and very quick technique of joining our bias strips together.
There will be times, after you’ve cut your own bias strips (see my article – Cutting Bias Strips), that you’ll have to lengthen them to fit your given sewing project.
There is a a right and wrong way to achieve this fashion sewing process. In my tutorial below, I’ll show you both ways so you don’t end up wasting time, effort and fabric.
Once you’re comfortable with the technique of joining bias strips, you’ll be able to create continuous strips which can be used on any sewing project that requires them.
Please remember to subscribe to my FashionSewingBlogTV and never miss another FREE online fashion sewing tutorial!
Joining Bias Strips

Did you find this fashion sewing video tutorial of use? Please do let me know.
So before we go, I’d just like to give a few pointers to ensure we always join our bias strips correctly in future -
Joining Individual Bias Strips
sewing
Please remember that it is important when joining the ends of your bias strips, that it is done accurately to ensure that the ends are on the straight of grain and are parallel to each other.
1 – Place one bias strip right side up.
2 – Place another bias strip (wrong side), onto the other so the right sides are now facing. The bias cut edges should cross each other at right angles.
3 – Be sure that the points extend beyond the strips raw edge.
4 – Pin into position and machine stitch.
5 – Press the seam open and cut away the extended points.
A quick (and easy) technique to get right, I hope you agree!
If you do have any questions with regard to joining your bias strips, or any other fashion sewing related matter, please do get in touch.
