Our community has a brand new member.
Star of Greys Anatomy and One for the Money, Katherine Heigl.
She was spotted in Los Angeles at Baron Wares Store, buying fabric and testing driving sewing machines with her sister and nephew.
I believe she is a welcome addition to fashion sewing, and proving that our beloved art is transcending to a newer, modern generation who see the true value in creativity.
You may remember that I previously wrote about another star, Britney Spears supposed sewing lessons in Sweden. Unlike Britney, I actually think Katherine is a true participant and convert.

Of course, we, as women feel pressurised from all corners to wear the ‘in‘ clothing and dress as society tells us.
Now I’m all for making and wearing great looking fashion clothing that fits to perfection, hangs well and makes a statement, but surely, our sole mantra should be -
‘Wear whatever makes you feel happy!’
So, if you like what you wear and it makes you feel special, be it you me or the likes of Katherine, then who cares what anybody else thinks!
A Katherine Heigl Special Delivery
The 33-year-old celebrity was seen wandering around the fashion sewing stockist, gathering materials for what looked like an epic fashion sewing project.
Her biggest purchase of the day came when she could not resist looking at the selection of sewing machines. She’s clearly got great taste!
So let’s welcome Katherine into our fashion sewing circles!

Katherine is also a big knitter and has been for many many years. If you ever watch Grey’s there is an episode in Season 2 where her character knits a sweater for Denny played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan. That was actually her knitting and she knitted it. No special effects required.
